Coconut Oil : Benefits for Body & Skin
Coconut oil is a form of fat that is getting a lot of praise for its health benefits. However, this magical elixir’s advantages extend beyond dietary uses. Coconut oil’s benefits for the body has made it a prevalent ingredient in many body care products. There are tons of skincare oils on the market, so, what makes coconut oil unique?
Why coconut oil is so popular as a skincare product
The benefits of applying coconut oil to the body are wide-ranging. Coconut oil is high in medium-chain fatty acids, which helps the skin stay hydrated. These medium-chain fatty acids increase the skin's barrier function by decreasing water loss and assisting the skin in keeping undesirable elements out, such as germs and irritants. Coconut oil has antimicrobial and antibacterial characteristics that can help prevent eczema infections and dermatitis caused by yeast.
Coconut oil maintains your connective tissues making them strong and supple, which helps to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles when absorbed into your skin. At the same time it helps to exfoliate the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, making it smoother. Coconut oil also has properties that reduce inflammation making it beneficial for irritated, chafed skin.
Moreover, it is unrefined in its natural state and therefore a pure, non-fragrant plant oil. Why is this significant? The problem with traditional beauty products is the prevalent use of fragrance. These fragrance molecules contain toxic chemicals and cause dermatitis, severe itchiness, headaches, asthma, and other allergic reactions.
Did you know? Your skin is the largest organ in the body, whatever you put on it gets absorbed directly into your bloodstream. We believe that if you can’t eat it then don’t put it on your skin, that’s why all our PURERAW products are chemical free.
How to apply coconut oil
At temperatures below 76°F (24°C) coconut oil solidifies, but liquefies when the temperature rises above this. When applying coconut oil to your skin, it should be closer to a liquid consistency, so the texture is smooth and light.
We don’t recommend heating the oil but by submerging the bottle in warm water or placing it near a warm air source, you can raise the temperature above that required to liquefy it. This transition from liquid to solid and back again has no effect on the oil's quality.
Benefits for Body & Skin
There are numerous coconut oil benefits on the body that makes it an all-in-one wonder product. It can be used on your skin and hair in a variety of ways. It can be used as a cleanser, moisturiser, or makeup remover. Coconut oil for skin can be a very valuable addition to your skincare routine, depending on your skin type. It contains a plethora of benefits that can increase your results organically, from hydrating to decreasing signs of age to calming irritated skin.
Coconut oil’s emollient properties are beneficial for all types of skin as it helps hydrate and protect the skin. Using coconut oil instead of your typical moisturiser may soften and hydrate your skin, leaving it to appear rejuvenated and smooth, especially if you have dry, flaky skin.
Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil comes in a glass jar and has managed to stand out amongst today’s cluttered coconut oil brands. Because they manufacture their own products, they can stay committed to being the ONLY raw & alkaline coconut oil on the market today. Most brands employ the same chemicals & manufacturing plants as their competitors, using packaging and fancy labels as the only differentiator. They have patented their unique process of manufacturing coconut oil, it's called the Nutralock System, because of its ability to lock in nutrients. The technology uses cool air to produce the oil instead of the traditional way, which uses high heat, solvents and chemicals. This specific method differs dramatically from the other coconut oils on the market. You can literally see, smell and taste the difference!
